Double Trouble State Park

Though it’s getting colder, and it is not as scenic as could be, Double Trouble State Park has a beauty to it all year round. Lying in the midst of Ocean County, in Berkeley and Lacey Township, it covers over 8,000 acres. It is an “opportunity to introduce visitors to southern New Jersey’s natural and cultural heritage. Both the natural environment, consisting of a high quality Pine Barrens watershed, and an extremely well preserved historic village associated with New Jersey cranberry agriculture and Atlantic White Cedar logging and milling industries are available to visitors,” according to the website.

Double Trouble has many great trails for hiking and for a leisurely stroll, depending on how you’re feeling that day. For my nature walk, and the pictures taken, I was on the first half of the Mills Pond Trail. It seemed to stop when we reached the reservoir, so my companion and I turned back. It actually goes for another while, making a 1.3 mile trail in total.
